Last week the PETROF Museum hosted a piano recital by the composer and pianist Jan Šimíček. A pleasant, friendly atmosphere pervaded the entire evening. His outstanding performance of all-time jazz, classical and romantic favourites was full of emotion and everyone there thoroughly enjoyed the concert.

In the course of his musical career he has written around 80 pieces of popular, jazz and brass band music, and more than 90 symphonic, chamber and choral pieces. In 1998 Čs. Rozhlas Brno (Radio Brno) brought out his CD entitled “Černobílé klávesy” and in 2005 Studio Rajchman brought out a CD entitled "Klavírní siesta". In the international radio programme competition Prix Musical de Radio Brno he picked up several awards, twice gaining first prize. He has made several appearances with the Rozhlasový Orchestr Studio Brno (Studio Brno Radio Orchestra), the Bohuslav Martinů Philharmonia and the Hradec Králové Philharmonia, and since 1998 he has given more than 20 piano recitals in the "classic-jazz romantic" style.
